Elizabeth R. Wright
Pastor Lizzie moved to Weslaco First UMC in July of 2017. She loves the Weslaco community and the wider Rio Grande Valley, but she grew up mostly in San Antonio and Austin. Lizzie went to the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia for undergraduate studies in history, planning to be President of the USA someday (no, that's not a joke), but felt called to ministry halfway through (turns out that wasn't a joke either). In 2011, Lizzie graduated with her Masters of Divinity from Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina, and returned to Texas for good. She has two cats, but is a lover of all animals except snakes and spiders.
Kevin grew up in Weslaco, and has served on staff of several churches in the RGV, including leading First Christian Church here in town. He is passionate about connecting people with a church community and encouraging young people to build up their relationship with Jesus and their neighbors. Kevin started an after-school program for WFUMC, making a safe and fun place for kids to hang out, eat snacks, get homework help, and talk about their faith. He is active in the Central Middle School FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) leadership. Kevin and his wife Becky love serving God and leading their four kids in doing the same.
Choir director, worship team leader
Rosemarie leads the music on Sundays, participating in the praise team, guiding the congregation through hymns, and of course directing the Chancel Choir as they share beautiful gifts of music in worship. She is the longest-tenured staffperson at WFUMC, having held her position for over 20 years. Rosemarie also teaches elementary music in Harlingen. She and her husband, Ted, have three grown kids and a precious grandson.
